Responsibilities
Provides assistance to the Residential Manager/Area Director/Support Manager by assisting in quality assurance, compliance with all program principles, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for individuals and management of staff and day to day operations of assigned home(s).
 
Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties
  • Communicates effectively with the assigned Support Manager on the consumer needs and wants.
  • Communicates effectively with the assigned Residential Manager on the staffing, training and maintenance needs of the group homes.
  • Ensures the delivery of residential services by Residential Support Staff Team Members.
    • Ensures that goals are completed, and service delivery logs have been completed, contact staff when logs are missing, rights are followed, behavior plans are followed, IBAMS are completed in TMP for behaviors and/or injury incidents, medical needs, and any other assigned duty by supervisor.
  • Ensures the health and safety of individuals served and Residential Support Staff Team Members.
  • Ensures Residential Support Staff Team Members are trained on individuals’ treatment and training plans.
    • Trains staff on behavior plans and how to document behaviors
    • Trains staff on consumers special needs
    • Trains staff on how to utilize TMP.
    • Trains staff on how upkeep in the homes and reporting maintenance needs
  • Coordinates transportation services for Individuals when needed.
  • Oversees maintenance of assigned homes and vehicles including requesting services needed by completing maintenance request forms in TMP.
  • Provides assistance with medications and performs tasks delegated by a Registered Nurse.
    • Will complete medication pass when needed, due to un-delegated staff on shift.
  • Coordinates with the Nurse to ensure individual’s medical needs are met and Team Member training is current.
    • Contact RN when training and delegation are needed for new staff.
  • Ensures programmatic needs of individuals are met by observation of direct care staff and daily review of programmatic documentation on paper and in TMP.
  • Responsible for ensuring direct care staff follow PDP’s as written and provide coaching and counseling when needed.
    • Ensuring Targeted and Services goals are completed.
  • Reports concerns with programs to Support Manager and/or Lead Support Manager.  These concerns may include scheduling issues and inability of staff to appropriately follow strategies.
  • Orders medications for individuals from the nursing department.
  • Ensures that groceries and cleaning supplies are well stocked
  • Notifies Nurse Assistant of need/changes for incontinence supplies.
  • Notifies Lead Support Manager when Adaptive Aid equipment is needed or damaged or drinkable supplement is needed.
  • Oversees house paperwork including service delivery logs, data collection sheets, vehicle maintenance logs, time sheets, Wal-Mart receipts, etc. and ensures timely submission of all paperwork.
    • Review of SDL’s in TMP to ensure they have been completed by each staff on shift.
    • Review of IBAMS to ensure that IBAMs are entered in a timely manner and on the correct consumer.
    • Review TMP calendar to ensure all assigned items have been completed.
    • Any other duties assign to a location or consumer
  • Complete shopping or purchasing as assigned by the Support Manager and/or Trust Fund Director, for items requested from the consumers Trust Fund, while following the guidelines of the trust fund policy.
  • Reviews MARS and narcotic counts for accuracy and reports to nurse any discrepancies.
  • Provides on the job training for new Team Members and re-training for current team members. 
  • Ensure that the menu is followed is assigned group homes
  • Ensure understanding of a departmental budget and the responsibility to the program to work within that budget
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • May assist the Residential Manager with interviewing Residential Support Staff Team Members.  Hiring and firing responsibilities for Residential Support Staff Team Members are handled by Residential Manager.
  • Assists with corrective actions of Team Members as assigned.
  • Supervises Residential Support Staff Team Members in Group Homes.
  • Ensures that home is fully staffed, fills in when vacancies occur if unable to find staff to work shift.
  • Conducts annual Performance Expectations of Residential Support Team Members.
  • Completes monthly monitoring of Residential Support Team Members competency of required programming and medical needs for each of the Individuals residing in the home.
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Ensures adequate staff coverage at all times for all shifts.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the HCS program.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work within a budget
  • Ability to perform all functions as stated in the residential assistance provider job description.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license and good driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED
